Positive Women’s Network (PWN)
South Africa | Founded in 1996 | Thousand Currents Partner since 2005 | PWN's Facebook page
Based in Johannesburg, Positive Women’s Network (PWN) is an NGO providing community services and programs to positively empower marginalized women and other people living with HIV in South Africa.
PWN’s work has positively impacted the lives of over 35,000 women infected and affected by HIV in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, the Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal because of the organizational commitment to guide and empower women to achieve a sound socio-economic and political environment in their communities within the context of HIV and AIDS in South Africa.
PWN provides access to clinics and treatment, outreach programmes and workshops, support groups, income generation projects and condom distribution as well as advocating for HIV, gender and human rights. PWN also aims to create an environment in which people living with HIV and AIDS are given opportunities to thrive and remain healthy – free from stigmatization and discrimination because of their HIV status.
PWN works across seven programmatic areas:
- Condom Distribution
- Income Generation
- Working with Clinics
- Training and Education
- Support Groups
